Microsoft Intune on the Azure portal preview – Part – 2 (Initial Configuration )

Initial configuration tasks on a new Intune tenant –

A series of configuration tasks to set-up your Intune environment, before device enrollment

1. Change Mobile Device Management Authority

The Mobile Device Management (MDM) authority defines the management service that has permission to manage a set of devices. The options for the MDM authority include Intune standalone and Intune Hybrid (Configuration Manager with Intune). If you set Configuration Manager as the management authority, no other service can be used for mobile device management.

  • Intune Standalone – Good for any organization who wants to implement cloud-only management. this option doesn’t require any On-Premises SCCM Integration.
  • Intune Hybrid – Intune integration with System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM). One single console to manage Intune and SCCM.
  • Mobile Device Management for Office 365 – integration with Office 365. An Admin will configure all the Intune policies from Office 365 Admin Center. This option only have a subset of the MDM capabilities that are available with Intune Standalone.
How to configure –

In the Azure portal, choose More Services > Intune > Select Enroll Devices.
